The Criminal Code sets the rules for gambling in Canada. - Quebec: Loto-Québec says lotoquebec.com is the only legal casino and sports betting site in the province.
- Atlantic Canada: Atlantic Lottery is the only regulated online provider in the region.
Ontario
Ontario's regulated iGaming market launched on April 4, 2022. Private operators must register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, and their sites run alongside OLG.ca, the provincial lottery site. To play, you must be 19 or over and in Ontario. iGaming Ontario's directory lists the regulated sites.
Alberta
Alberta's regulated online gambling market launched on July 13, 2026, under the iGaming Alberta Act. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) conducts and manages the market, and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) regulates it. Only registered operators may run an iGaming site. Unregistered operators had to stop taking bets by July 13, 2026, although AGLC may allow a case-by-case extension to October 13, 2026.

It holds the licences for the casino brands on its platform, and some brands are run with partner businesses. In July 2026 the Merkur Group agreed to buy White Hat Studios, the group's slots studio, subject to regulatory approval. The deal does not include the casino platform or its brands.
